Pilot Joint Mobility Call between Southeast Asia and Europe (SEA-EU NET)

Belgian applicants are advised to check with the respective National Contact Points the eligibility as to who may apply and what costs are eligible before a consortium submits the complete application.

Project duration

The maximum amount of requested funding per project is 10.000 EUR for a total period of one year.

Eligibility of the proposal

Additional national eligibility criteria for the proposal beyond the general criteria in the Terms of Reference of the joint call:
 

• Basic research (low Technology Readiness Level) carried out in a research institution from the “Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles” (FWB);
• The FNRS will not fund industrial partners or any activity related to the private sector.

Eligibility of applying scientists

The applicant must be affiliated to a research institution from the “Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles”.

The applicant should also:

• be a permanent researcher of F.R.S. - FNRS (Chercheur qualifié, Maître de recherches or Directeur de recherches) ;
• or hold a tenure track position (or an assimilated position including pending tenure track) within a research institution from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles;
• or be a permanent research staff member of a federal scientific institution or the ‘Ecole Royale Militaire’ in which case he can act as a co-promotor only.

The applicant should not have reached retirement at the starting date of the project. If the applicant reaches the age of retirement in the course of the project, he should precisely describe in the proposal how the handover will be managed.

A single applicant may only participate once in a consortium applying to this call.

Eligible cost items

The maximum amount allocated per project is 10.000 EUR. The following costs are eligible:

• Mobility:

1 - For Belgian scientists:

• The F.R.S.-FNRS will fund travel costs of researchers, who participate in the project and are linked to a research institution from the “Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles”. The most economical means of transport/accommodation consistent with effective pursuit of the project should be used at all times.
• The F.R.S.-FNRS will cover accommodation and local travel costs (Per Diem) of the FWB researchers traveling to the participating countries. The daily subsistence allowance for Belgian project partners is 75 Euro per day for up to 28 days. For stays between 28 and 30 days, a monthly fee of 2.240 Euro will be paid for each 30 days.
• The F.R.S.-FNRS will cover costs of an accident and health insurance for the FWB researchers (F.R.S-FNRS researchers are covered by an insurance policy of F.R.S.-FNRS, other researchers are insured through their host institutions).

2- For Southeast Asian and European scientists travelling to Belgium:

All partner countries cover the costs for their participants based on their respective national regulations.

• Workshops in the “Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles”:

The F.R.S.-FNRS will cover costs related to the organisation of scientific events, project meetings and workshops in the “Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles”. These costs cannot exceed a total amount of 3.000 Euro over the total duration of the project and can only cover:

• The actual (material) organisation of the meeting (including rental of venue, technical equipment and catering);
• Costs of interpretation and other consumables (including programmes, posters);
• Travel and subsistence costs for maximum 4 participants (external invited experts, speakers, etc…).The costs for the event have to be requested by the project partner in the hosting country.

• Equipment and consumables:

The F.R.S.-FNRS can cover costs for consumables and small equipment: only on a limited scale and if its need is clearly demonstrated.

• Personnel costs:

Personnel costs are not eligible.

• Indirect costs: Overheads

There are no eligible indirect costs.
